Happy Independence day or whatever

On Friday 31 August we will celebrate the 50th Anniversary  of our Independence. 50 years might sound like a wise and mature old age to be, but  in reality, for a country like ours, it means we are still in our early teens.

Signs of classic teenage behaviour are everywhere in Trinidad and Tobago.

Trinidad and Tobago's latest attempt to "sell itself to the world", comes in the form of pop star, Nikki Minaj 's new video for her song 'Pound the Alarm'. 

T&T Police: New look.Same taste ?

Imagine creating a campaign to enhance the public image  of  the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service. I cant.
For me,writing a campaign to convince people to use pesticide as an alternative to milk in their morning cornflakes seems a far easier proposition. 
The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service must surely have the worst image and the most negative public perception than any other brand in the country. 
However it appears the TTPS are about to embark on a re-branding exercise.

Movie Review: Life Sport

Blockbuster Politics 

Yesterday a colleague sent me a link to a short film called ‘Life Sport’.

The official description on the video says it is a “documentary to support the new initiative by SporTT, designed to get young men from “at risk” areas of Trinidad and Tobago involved in various sports”.

The term “documentary” seems to  have been loosely applied  here because Life Sport really  appears to be a 25 minute TV commercial for the Ministry of Sport. And a very bizarre TV commercial at that.

False Advertising?

When Colgate puts up a billboard that says 4 out of 5 dentists recommend  their product, you better believe that they have some form of stats to back that up.

But this sign I saw last Sunday in Penal left me wondering about the things you can seemingly get away with saying.

Who made this sign?

Is it really representing a group of people or is it just the work of a single bored sign painter?

Is it a political billboard? If so is it supposed to adhere to any  rules?

Who are these "People of Debe"?

How many " People of Debe", is it refereeing too?

Colgate must get really jealous when it sees what other billboards can get away with.

Higgs boson I Presume?

Today scientists at Cern,the European Laboratory home to the Large Hadron Collider,have announced that they have found the Higgs boson particle.  

Its a momentous day for physics-I think. I'm still not sure what this means.

What is the Higgs boson particle?Where does it come from? Can we use it to build a Tardis?
